Director of Citizen Services and City Clerk Gayle Conrad is the third in command position at the City of Cape Girardeau.
She started her career in local government in 1990 as an administrative secretary at the Public Works Department and continuously added responsibilities along the way. Appointed as Deputy City Clerk in 1992 and City Clerk in 1999, she excelled in that role serving numerous councils and city managers over the years.
She was promoted to Citizen Services Director in 2013 and oversees the Deputy City Clerk / City Manager’s Office administrative staff, Public Information Office and Customer Service. Under her leadership, the City’s ERP conversion to Tyler-Munis software products will be complete this year. She also serves as the United Way Campaign Chairwoman and liaison to Municipal Court.
Through the Missouri City Clerks and Finance Officers Association (MoCCFOA) she has earned recognition as a Missouri Registered City Clerk-Sustaining member, she is a Certified Municipal Clerk through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, and is a Certified Municipal Official with the Missouri Municipal League. She served as President of MoCCFOA from 2013-2014 and was named Municipal Clerk of the Year from the Association in 2014.
Despite her successes, Gayle is never too busy to help an employee or resident in need.
