One Cape – Jerry Pledger

In 42 years on the job serving Cape Girardeau at Public Works, Heavy Equipment Operator Jerry Pledger has probably done it all at least twice. Maybe more.

“Mowing right-of-ways, fixing potholes…everything,” said Pledger when asked his primary responsibilities. He notes that lots has changed over the years, especially that vehicles and equipment have improved.

His advice for those who are just entering the workforce? Stick it out.

When not working, Pledger has a surprising hobby – power lifting. He holds five world master power lifting records.

Pledger finds working with his fellow employees most rewarding about his role at Public Works.
