Lifeguard Training Available in Cape Girardeau, December 2016

Central Pool summerMake the best of your Christmas vacation! Lifeguard training is available at Central Municipal Pool on Dec. 19-22, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation.
Candidates must be at least 15 years of age on or before the last day of class. This course is a blended learning course: Approximately 8 hours of this course will be completed online. Candidates must have internet access to complete this course.
This training includes comprehensive skill instruction including equipment-based rescues, spinal injury management, post rescue care and other topics incorporating the most current principles of aquatic safety. It also includes First Aid Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Students must successfully complete a pre-test before being allowed to take the full course. Students will be notified of pre-test requirements before the course begins. An example of the pre-test requirements can be found here.
Students who do not pass the pretest will be issued a full refund for the price of the course. Candidates will receive a syllabus explaining deadlines for online lesson completion after registering.
Once registration is completed, an additional Red Cross registration will be emailed and will need to be completed a minimum of one week before the course begins.

The course’s price includes a textbook, and an additional fee of $35 will be paid directly to the Red Cross (total costs of $155 for Cape Girardeau residents and $165 for non-residents).
Complete attendance in this class is mandatory; make-ups will not be provided for missed classes.
