Christmas cardsLots of holiday season fun is around the corner with Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation!

Cookies for Santa – Ages 4-7
During this class for ages 4-7, we will bake lots of Christmas cookies for the kids to enjoy and to take home to set by your decorated Christmas tree. We will also get to listen to the classic Christmas tale, “The Night Before Christmas!”

The class meets on Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 5:30-6:30 p.m., at the A.C. Brase Arena. Class fees are $10 for Cape Girardeau residents and $11 for non-residents.
Christmas Gift Workshop – Ages 5-10
Have your child bring a photo of someone special in their life to this workshop, and we’ll help them make a Christmas gift with it! This workshop is for ages 5-10.

The workshop meets on Wednesday, Dec. 14 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Osage Centre. Workshop fees are $8 for Cape Girardeau residents and $10 for non-residents.
Merry Christmas to All – Holiday Card Making, Ages 5-10
During this class time, participants will make a card for your parents that you can take home and another card that will be sent to a thankful elderly person. Come and help us enhance the Christmas spirit that everyone deserves to enjoy!

Breakfast with Santa 12-11-10 027Breakfast with Santa – Ages 12 and Under
The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, along with the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Foundation and Cape Noon Optimist Club, are sponsoring the annual Breakfast With Santa from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Osage Centre.

Children and parents can come and enjoy donuts, danishes, muffins, bagels, biscuits and gravy, milk and juice with Santa. Parents are invited to bring their cameras to capture their child’s special moment. Santa arrives at 9 a.m.
Cost before Dec. 10 is $5 for the first child, $5 per adult, and $3 for each additional child. Event cost on the day of the event is $8 per person. Please pre-register by calling Parks and Recreation at 573-339-6340.
Calls from Santa – Ages 2-10
Surprise your child with a call from the North Pole from Santa himself this holiday season. Santa will be calling those on his list from Dec. 12-15, from 6-8 p.m.
This is a FREE service from the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department. You can register your child/children by calling the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department at 573-339-6340. Please register by the close of business on Dec. 12.
FlashlightCCHunt12-17-10Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt – Ages 2 and Up
Did you hear the latest news?! A particular someone has left candy canes all over certain areas of the grounds of Arena Park. Bring your flashlights and help us find them!

When you arrive at Arena Park for the Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt, you’ll get to decorate a bag for collecting the candy canes. After we collect the candy canes we will enjoy cookies and hot chocolate. You’ll even get to make a Christmas list for Santa telling him everything you would like for Christmas! Parents must accompany children. Please dress according to weather.

The event takes place on Dec. 16 from 6:30-7:30 p.m., at the 4-H Exhibit Hall in Arena Park. Event fees are $3 if pre-registered by noon on Dec. 11, $5 day of event (price is per person, including adults).
