Selected Works from Children's Arts Festival to Hang in Cape Girardeau City Council Chambers

Did you know we have gorgeous artwork gracing the walls of our City Council Chambers, thanks to local artists…who happen to be award winners at a young age?
For several years now, selected works from the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri’s Children’s Arts Festival earn the right to have their entries displayed publicly in the Council Chambers for one year. Artists contributing pieces to the Council Chambers come from Cape Girardeau area schools.
Introduced in the year 2000, the Children’s Arts Festival was developed as a way to showcase what local arts teachers, and their students, are doing in their classrooms across Southeast Missouri. The show is juried and features artwork from children from third through eighth grades.
Pictured below are several of the selected entries and their artists with Council members during the Aug. 15 meeting.
