Fire Station No. 4 Groundbreaking Sept. 7

FS4-renderingWe hope you can come to the Groundbreaking Ceremony for Fire Station No. 4 at 3011 Lexington Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m.
Following the successful completion of the construction project, officials hope to be operating from the new station by summer 2017.
The new Fire Station 4 was estimated to cost $3 million and is funded by the Fire Sales Tax and Public Safety Trust Fund approved by voters in November 2014.
There are four total fire stations in Cape Girardeau. Fire Station 4 has served the northwest quadrant of the city since it opened in 1974. In addition to protecting a growing number of commercial and residential developments, and much of Interstate 55, Station 4 responds through an automatic-aid agreement to all incidents in Cape Girardeau County involving potential rescues and extrications.
Officials hosted an informal, “open house” style meeting in June for FS4’s new neighbors that gave them the chance to learn more about the project, ask questions, and provide input on potential materials and design of the project.
