Proposed Cape Girardeau Fire Station 4 Public Meeting on June 9

A public meeting regarding the plan for Cape Girardeau’s Fire Station 4 is being held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 9 at the Osage Centre. This informal, “open house” style meeting will give attendees the chance to learn more about the project, ask questions, and provide input on potential materials and design.
The current Fire Station 4 is located on Kurre Lane, and the planned location for the new Station 4 is 3011 Lexington Avenue. Current plans are to be operating from the new station by summer 2017.
The new Fire Station 4 is estimated to cost $3 million and is funded by the Fire Sales Tax and Public Safety Trust Fund approved by voters in November 2014.
There are four total fire stations in Cape Girardeau. Fire Station 4 has served the northwest quadrant of the city since it opened in 1974. In addition to protecting a growing number of commercial and residential developments, and much of Interstate 55, Station 4 responds through an automatic-aid agreement to all incidents in Cape Girardeau County involving potential rescues and extrications.
We hope to see you at the meeting. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact Fire Chief Rick Ennis at 573-339-6330, or Building and Code Enforcement Manager Anna Kangas at 573-339-6327.
