2016 Bike to Work and School Day is May 6

The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Foundation will hold another successful round of Bike to Work bikeand School Day on May 6. This free event encourages everybody to ride their bikes for a day and head to work or school with a little more physical activity.
Since May is also recognized as National Bike Month, a kickoff will be held at the Osage Centre that morning. Free breakfast for participants begins at 6:15 a.m. Bike companies will be available to check on bikes as well. Until the big kick off, participants are able to ride around an exciting course and dance to Zumba!
Participants will also receive free t-shirts, can sign up for raffle prizes, register their bicycles with the Cape Girardeau Police Department, visit the complementary bike doctor from CycleWerx, stop by the information booth offered by Cape Bike & Fitness, pick up educational information from the Healthy Communities Coalition, and more!
Last year we had over 100 people come out to this event! It is a great opportunity to motivate ourselves and the children in the community to stay active and live healthier lifestyles. Biking to work and school is a great way to turn your transportation into a fun traveling experience and it keeps the body active!
After a motivational speech, we will head on our way to work and school. Free coffee or ice tea will be available all day for cyclists at Cup N Cork.
Get your co-workers involved to win a prize!  The facility with the most employees that show up to the kickoff at the Osage Center will win!
