Come out for Cape Girardeau’s 31st Annual Friends of the Parks Day and the Great Cape Clean-up on April 23. City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will host this community wide event that brings in 400-500 participants.
Anyone is invited to volunteer and make Cape beautiful. Parks and Recreation Department welcomes individual and group volunteers to beautify a place of your choice! If you choose to work in your own back yard, a school, business, or a trail around town would do the job. If you are unsure of where to work, additional projects are available at city parks and properties. Projects will include planting tress and flowers, replacing mulch, trash pick-up and raking leaves.
Tasks will be completed in Capaha Park, Indian Park, Kiwanis Park, May Greene Garden, Washington Park, Dennis Scivally Park, Groves Park, Cape Rock Park, Cape LaCroix Creek, Jaycee Municipal Golf Course, Riverfront Park / downtown, and others.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Capaha Park for those coming out to city parks. Work projects will begin 9 a.m. Schnucks will provide hot dogs, chips and soda for participants.
Groups or individuals wanting to volunteer should register by contacting the Parks and Recreation office at 573-339-6340.
