Water System Upgrades, Booster Pump Delivery to Close Portion of Perrryville Road on Feb. 11

Water system booster pump delivery on Thursday, Feb. 11 will cause a brief road closure on Perryville Road near Cape Rock Drive, starting around 9:30 a.m.
The booster pump is large, approximately 15 feet wide and 30 feet long, and will be on an oversize load truck for delivery. A crane will be used to assist with delivery and placement of the pump. During this process, a portion of the nearby road will close and detours in place.
This booster pump replaces two smaller, older water system booster pumps, and will work towards improving water pressure in parts of Cape Girardeau. The booster will aid in additional water system capacity to northern portions of the city. It will also have an emergency generator to aid in water restoration when the power is out.
The project is a part of overall planned water service improvements under the 2011 Water System Facility Plan consolidating pressure zones, and improving water pressure and system reliability.
