South West End Boulevard to Open Dec. 17 – Ribbon Cutting Event

WestEnd Work 2015West End Boulevard south of Highway 74 reopens Dec. 17. City and project leaders will celebrate with a public ribbon cutting ceremony on Dec. 17 at 2:30 p.m. on Walnut Street near West End. Attendees please note that no parking is available on West End in this area. You will need to take Sprigg Street to Walnut Street and turn west.
This project included West End Boulevard from Jefferson to Linden streets and Walnut Street from Sprigg Street to West End. The surface of West End Boulevard was removed and re-graded to flatten the road and fix the lumps that had developed over time. The project also included construction of storm sewers, two box culverts, retaining walls along Walnut and West End Boulevard, stairwells at homes along West End Boulevard, sidewalk construction along both Walnut Street (from Sprigg to West End) and West End Boulevard (from Jefferson to Linden Street), street lighting along the new section of Walnut Street and any other related construction items. Fronabarger Concreters was the general contractor.
CAPESAYSYES-TTFThe West End Boulevard project was part of Transportation Trust Fund 4 approved by voters in 2010. It was the subject at several public meetings leading up to the vote and again as recently as March 2015. The project cost  $1,963,393.00 – another Transportation Trust Fund project  project promised and delivered.

  1. Now let’s reconstruct west end from new madrid north to its current end and extend it to Lexington. It’s current state is disgraceful
