Items approved and witnessed by Council include:
• Appointed David Diveley to the Public Library Board.
• Appointed City Manager Scott Meyer to the River Campus Board of Managers.
• Postponed Show Me Center Board of Managers appointment in favor of finding candidates. The current appointee, Cord Dombrowski, has been on since the 1990s according to their open discussion.
• Allocating $20,000 from the capital allocation of the Casino Revenue Fund for new vehicles for the Cape County Transit Authority (see Agenda Documents). The City of Jackson and County of Cape Girardeau will also make contributions to Cape CTA. The Mayor Harry Rediger called the move a “good investment in our transit system.”
• Presentation from economic development partner MAGNET and first reading of their annual contract
• Celebration of Citizens Fire Academy graduates
Special use permit for height for the new conference center
• Extending a SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center lease for hangar space for three 24/7 emergency medical professionals (view more). The continued presence of SSM produces enough air medical traffic throughout the region, including the Southeast Missouri Bootheel, ARCH Air Medical Services has mentioned they could consider a return to the Cape Girardeau area.  If ARCH were to return to Cape Girardeau, the additional accessibility of the ARCH Air Medical helicopters is a benefit to the local hospitals, as well.  Additionally, SSM has updated the living quarters within the hangar and those improvements will remain the property of the Airport.
• Final readings of last week’s new ordinances  including an ordinance dissolving the Girardeau Goes Green board which would give them the option to advocate for issues beyond the reach of a city government
