Updated: The contractor has changed the dates of this road work, due to mechanical issues.
The road work requiring shut down of portions of Marie and North streets is now scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 12. Next week (Oct. 5), Jokerst will be completing minor work in the area that will not cause the streets to be closed.
Original post: Previous sewer work has resulted in the need for street paving near the 400 block of Marie Street and North Street intersection in Cape Girardeau. Paving and any associated work begins
next Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 7 a.m the week of Oct. 12.
During the paving work, being completed by contractor Jokerst, portions of Marie and North Streets will be closed to through traffic and detours will be set up around the area. Residents and visitors are asked not to park on the street in the affected area immediately before and during the project. Estimated completion is 5 p.m. on Friday, weather permitting.
Earlier this summer, City of Cape Girardeau Public Works’ crews completed sewer main replacement in this same location. The paving is needed as a result of that project.
As always, drivers are asked to use caution around this, and all, work zones. For more information, please contact Public Works’ Street Division at 573-339-6351.
