Cape Girardeau Police Department to Participate in Statewide DWI Enforcement Campaign

Law enforcement officers across Missouri have announced that they are cracking down on drunk driving by participating in the Statewide DWI Enforcement Campaign.
The Cape Girardeau Police Department will be participating in this effort by working with the Southeast Missouri DWI Task Force in a sobriety checkpoint during the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement campaign. The campaign period is going on now through Sept. 7, 2015.
Cape Girardeau Police Chief Wes Blair states, “We want to remind everyone that getting behind the wheel drunk is a terrible idea. Unfortunately, not only does drinking impair your ability to operate a vehicle safely, it also impairs your judgement and good sense about whether you can, or should drive. If you have any doubt about your sobriety, do not get behind the wheel. If you choose to drive impaired, you will be arrested. No warnings. No excuses. Driving drunk is simply not worth the risk so don’t take the chance.”
