The proclamation text is as follows:

Whereas, each year on the third Sunday of June, a day has been set aside for the honoring and celebration of Fathers; and whereas, a Father’s role in the Family is one of protection, husbandry, role modeling, providing, giving guidance, teaching responsibility and to be a leader in the family structure, to name only a few; and whereas, the Role of the Father within the family structure has been in decline in recent years and there is need of restoring the place of Fathers in the Family by edifying and honoring all Father’s and rewarding exceptional men in our church and community, and a gathering called Dad’s Fest has been created; and
whereas, Dad’s Fest is sponsored by the Lighthouse Breakthrough International Ministries and will take place at Capaha Park in Cape Girardeau; and whereas, activities at Dad’s Fest will include the Marine Color Guard; honors to be given for Man of the Year, Legacy Award, Grace Award, and Business Man of the Year; special guests; prizes; food; music and games. Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that I, Harry E. Rediger, Mayor of the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, do hereby proclaim August 29, 2015, as Dad’s Fest Day in the City of Cape Girardeau, and I urge all citizens to celebrate Dad’s Fest Day and to honor our nation’s Fathers. In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Seal of the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, this 3rd day of August, 2015.
