The City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, in collaboration with Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center and the Healthy Communities Coalition, will offer free cooking classes to the public starting in August.
During the free classes, participants will learn how to prepare healthy meals using seasonal produce from the garden or local farmers market. Classes will be held at 6 p.m. at the Shawnee Park Center. Dates and topics are as follows:
- Aug. 18 “Appetizers”
- Sept. 1 “Main Dishes”
- Sept. 15 “Desserts”
Funding for the classes is provided by the Healthy Eating Active Lifestyles (HEAL) Grant received by Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center.
