Several Cape Girardeau traffic signals’ battery backup systems will undergo activation, requiring brief signal outages on May 13-14.
Affected intersections include William Street and West End Boulevard, William and Sprigg Street, Independence and Sprigg, Normal Avenue and Sprigg, and Caruthers Avenue and Broadway.
Once activated, all City-operated traffic signals will have battery backup. Contractor Cotner Electric is completing the work, funded through casino revenue.
Work will be completed at off-peak traffic times and results in about a 15-minute outage per location. Signage will be up noting the road work, and each intersection will operate as a four-way stop. Drivers are asked to use caution in these areas, and all, work zones.
