This Memorial Day weekend, join us for the sixth celebration of Fort D Days on May 23-25, including reenactments from the Civil War through World War II from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Admission is free.
On Saturday, bring a lawn chair and enjoy period music by The Front Porch Players at 6 p.m.
Historic downtown Cape, including Civil War sites such as the Common Pleas Courthouse, St. Vincent’s Seminary, and Port Cape Girardeau (perhaps Grant’s HQ), plus antique stores and excellent restaurants, are about one mile away from Fort D.
First observed after the end of the Civil War, Memorial Day honors the memory of U. S. soldiers who have died in military service.
