The City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department and presenting sponsor Academy Sports+Outdoors will be offering the annual Girl’s Softball League this summer for girls, ages 5 – 13 (prior to Aug. 1, 2015).
The cost for the league is $50 per player if registered on/by April 8. A $10 late fee will be added to registrations completed between April 9-15. The entry fee will cover the cost for a 10-12 game schedule, uniform shirt, ASA team registration, and all team playing equipment (excluding gloves). The league’s tentative start date is May 18.
Players 9-13 years of age will be required to attend a pre-season skills test. Players will be tested on hitting, fielding, running, and pitching. The dates and times for the skills testing are as follows: April 2, 6, and 8 from 5-7 p.m. each night at the Arena Park softball fields. Players should arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the end time of the testing and may leave once their evaluation is complete. Skills testing is not a team try out.
Head and assistant coaches are needed for this league. Registration forms and coach’s forms are currently available at the A. C. Brase Arena, Shawnee Park Center, and the Osage Centre and online at cityofcape.org/softball. Registration forms can be turned in at the A. C. Brase Arena, Osage Centre, or at any of the skills testing sessions.
