Volunteer to clean up Cape Girardeau during the 30th Annual Friends of the Parks Day and the Great Cape Clean-up on April 25, hosted by the City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department. The event normally draws a strong 400-500 participants city-wide.
The Parks and Recreation Department hopes that as many groups and individual volunteers participate as possible in this event through beautification projects around our community. You can work with a group to beautify some place special, like businesses, schools, or even your own yard! Additional projects are available at city parks and properties. Projects will include planting tress and flowers, replacing mulch, trash pick-up and raking leaves.
Parks where tasks will be completed include Capaha Park, Indian Park, Kiwanis Park, May Greene Garden, Washington Park, Dennis Scivally Park, Groves Park, Cape Rock Park, Cape LaCroix Cree, Jaycee Municipal Golf Course, Riverfront Park / downtown, and others.
For those coming out to city parks, registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Capaha Park. Work projects will begin at 9 a.m. Schnucks will provide hot dogs, chips and soda for participants.
