Last night at approximately 5:30 p.m. officers from the Cape Girardeau Police Department and the SEMO Drug Task Force conducted an investigation where a subject was found to be attempting to sell a handgun using social media. It was determined that the gun had been reported stolen from another jurisdiction. The investigators later made contact with the suspect, Tavious L. Tipler, age 17 from Cape Girardeau, in the parking lot of Mobil gas station at 612 S. Sprigg. Officers were able to take Tipler into custody. He is being held for class C Felony receiving stolen property, class D felony resisting a lawful detention and class D felony of unlawful use of a weapon on a $7,500 bond.
