Please join us for an enlightening forum, “Parks Build Community,” from 9-10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13 at the Osage Centre, hosted by the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department and the Missouri Park and Recreation Association (MPRA).
Jan Neizert, Executive Director for the Missouri Park and Recreation Association, will help lead a discussion on the important role parks and recreation plays as a critical piece in our community fabric, quality of life and a positive economic impact for cities around the state and country. MPRA’s “Did You Know” Campaign will be featured along with active participation from local community leadership including John Mehner, CEO of the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce, Chuck Martin, Executive Director for the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau, Scott Meyer, City Manager for the City of Cape Girardeau, and Dr. Tom Holman, Professor in Recreation at Southeast Missouri State University and Teacher of the Year award recipient.
It’s not all FUN and GAMES as cities around the country struggle with healthcare costs and combat social issues, environmental and conservation concerns along with how to revitalize neighborhoods and stimulate economic growth. Parks and Recreation can be part of that solution!
