Downtown Sculpture Walk in Cape Girardeau on Oct. 11

Take a walk down Broadway Street with Michael Baird and Liz Montgomery to learn more about the Cape Girardeau Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition!  They will be discussing information about the sculptures and the artists behind the work.

Michael Baird is an artist and Instructor of Art at Southeast Missouri State University. As an artist, he creates large scale sculptures inspired by folklore stories throughout the world. Michael received his Bachelors of Fine Art from Southeast Missouri State University and his Masters of Fine Art in Sculpture from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Along the walk, Michael will be sharing his knowledge of the processes used to create the sculptures on display.

Liz Montgomery is the Gallery Manager for the Arts Council as well as a recent BFA graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. During the last year, Liz has been working with the Public Art Promotions Committee on the Cape Girardeau Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition. Along the walk, Liz will share information about the artists behind the sculptures and answer questions about both the current exhibit and the upcoming 2015 sculpture exhibit. 

Meeting At: The group will be meeting at 11:00 am near the first sculpture of the tour: “Immigrants” by Mike Baur, located in the park between Lorimier Street and Spanish Street on the south side of Broadway. Brochures including maps will be handed out.
