Information from Ameren Missouri
In an effort to improve the reliability of the system and meet the growing demand for electricity in the region, Ameren Missouri is launching the Cape Girardeau Electric Reliability Program – a series of upgrades to the transmission infrastructure.
Construction is expected to begin in late 2014 or early 2015, but local residents may see some activity in the right-of-way over the next several weeks.
The major components of the program include construction of two new substations (named Hitt and Heritage), a new 34.5 kV sub-transmission line to serve Ameren’s Cape Clark substation, and a new 345 kV transmission line to serve their Heritage substation. The new substations will be constructed on Ameren-owned land located south of State Highway K.
