On Sunday 8-17-14 at approximately 2:45 pm, officers from Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to an address in the 500 block of N. Spring in reference to a robbery that had just taken place. Upon officers arrival, they made contact with the victim and resident of the address. The elderly female stated that she had allowed a male and female suspect into her home to get a glass of water. The victim stated that she recognized the male subject as being with family members in the past.
When inside, the male pushed her to the floor and the two subjects stole a television, wallet, cellphone and then took her vehicle and fled from the scene. Through our investigation, two suspects were identified and located Monday morning at a local hotel and were taken into custody. Yesterday afternoon, warrants were issued for Napoleon A. Cornelius Jr., age 18, from Cape Girardeau and Britney L. Morse, age 22, from Perryville. Both subjects were charged with class B felony robbery in the second degree, felony stealing, and class B felony of burglary in the first degree. They are both being held at Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Department on $75,000 bond.
The elderly victim sustained injury to her hip and had to be transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment.
