The public is invited to give input on facility ideas to boost area tourism. City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department staff, along with consultants from Planning Design Studio, will host a series of meetings and focus group sessions on Thursday, July 24 starting at 11 a.m. and concluding at 8 p.m. at the Osage Centre. Staff scheduled these times hoping it would allow as many people as possible to attend and provide feedback. If you are unable to attend these meetings, you can complete a survey online.
Potential facilities being studied by the Facility Feasibility Study Committee appointed by the City Council to be presented July 24 include:
- Indoor Sports Complex
- Agriculture Exposition Center
- Indoor Aquatics Venue
The committee is considering the economic viability of these projects in addition to a Hotel/Convention Center. There will be a separate public comment period announced at a later date for the Hotel/Convention Center.
