Select Summer Transportation Meetings

Transportation Trust Fund 5
Traditionally, a subcommittee of Planning and Zoning reviews transportation needs to make recommendations to the City Council for Transportation Trust Fund projects. City staff and City Council have discussed focusing future TTF requests to focus more on renovations and improvements of existing streets. The subcommittee will meet next on July 14 at 7 a.m. on the second floor of City Hall.

Comprehensive Plan Oversight Committee
The Comprehensive Plan is a long-range (20 year) planning document adopted in 2008 addressing a comprehensive set of community components including land use, utilities, transportation, parks and recreation, public safety, and economic development. It should represent the collective vision of the community in each of these areas. July’s meeting is scheduled to include reports from SEMPO (see below), the Neighborhood Development Initiative slated to launch later this year, and an update on efforts to update the Comprehensive Plan. Representatives from our City Council, Old Town Cape, Planning & Zoning Commission, Chamber of Commerce and staff will meet July 18 at 8:30 a.m. in the Development Services conference room at City Hall.

Southeast Metropolitan Planning Organization
The Southeast Metropolitan Planning Organization (SEMPO) is a federally mandated and funded policy-making organization that oversees transportation planning for the Cape-Jackson urbanized area which includes portions of Cape Girardeau and Scott counties in Missouri and Alexander County in Illinois. July meetings cancelled, view August schedule
