News Releases — Shooting in the 1100 Block of Cousin Street

The following has been copied from Police Department news releases regarding an incident on the 1100 block of Cousin Street on the evening of June 27.
News Release from the City of Cape Girardeau Police Department Media Relations Office sent 6/27/14 at 11:23 p.m.  (#1)

On Friday, June 27 around 6:49 p.m. Cape Girardeau police officers responded to the 1100 block of Cousin Street for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival officers were advised that a male subject had been shot and was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital. The victim remains in a local hospital in serious condition from multiple gunshot wounds. At this time the investigation is still ongoing and more information will be released later.

Deion-PhillipsOn Tuesday, July 1, 2014 the Cape Girardeau Police Department announced the arrest of 18-year-old Deion Miguel Phillips for the shooting of Richard Jenkins on June 27 in the 1100 block of Cousin Street. Deion Phillips is charged with the class A felony of assault in the first degree and armed criminal action with a bond of $100,000 surety. He is currently in custody at the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
