Information Released: Friday, February 20, 2014 — 6 a.m. (#1)
On Friday June 20at approximately 2:18 a.m. the Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to a call of shots fired in the area of William and Henderson Street. When officers arrived they found a vehicle parked near the intersection of Henderson and Good Hope with a white male in the driver’s seat. The male appeared to have multiple gunshot wounds to his chest. Medical personnel were called to the scene and then the coroner was notified. The subject was declared deceased by Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Clifton. At this time no suspects have been identified and the name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of his relatives. The Major Case Squad was activated to investigate this incident.
Information Released: Friday, February 20, 2014 — 7 a.m. (#2)
The victim in the early morning homicide has been identified as 34-year-old Joshua Edward Dibert of 414 East Cape Rock Drive in Cape Girardeau, Mo. His immediate family was notified by Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Clifton. The Major Case Squad was activated and are investigating.
Information Released: Sunday, June 22, 2014 — 5:30 p.m. (#3)
The Major Case Squad was officially deactivated Sunday, June 22, 2014. The squad had been activated to investigate the shooting death of Joshua Dibert. At this time no suspect is in custody. Officers of the Cape Girardeau Police Department will continue to investigate this and follow up on any additional leads that may arise. The police department is asking the public if they have any information regarding this incident to please call 573-335-6621.
