Upcoming classes in Cape Girardeau for free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training include options for both first-time participants and refresher courses, beginning in August.
The CERT classes for those wanting to attend as a first-time student are Sept. 23, 30, Oct. 7, 14, and 21 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center’s conference room.
The refresher course for anyone that has previously completed CERT training more than 2 years ago is being offered in two options. You have to complete 8 hours worth of training offered in 2 sections to complete your CERT refresher. Each option is divided into 2 sections. Participants need to complete section 1 before section 2. Option 1 meets on Aug. 19 (section 1) and Aug. 21 (section 2) from 5:30-9:30 p.m. at Fire Station 3 in Cape Girardeau. Option 2 meets on Aug. 23 from 8 a.m. to noon (section 1) and from 1 to 5 p.m. (section 2).
