Celebrate National Running Day with the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department by participating in a recreational run/walk. The National Running Day Run/Walk will be held June 4, 2014 at 6:15 p.m., with registration beginning at 5:15 p.m. and ending at 6:00 p.m. This year’s National Running Day event will also feature a Kid’s Run, which will begin at 6:00 p.m.
The Kid’s Run, as well as the 1-mile, 2-mile, and 3-mile run/walks will take place at Capaha Park. The 5-mile run will go through downtown Cape Girardeau along the riverfront. All participants should register at Capaha Park Shelter #1 off of Broadway St. Runners and walkers of all ages are encouraged to participate.
The run/walk is free. Participants are welcome to make $12.00 donations to support the Youth Track Club. With a $12.00 donation you will receive a National Running Day t-shirt. Jimmy John’s sandwich and clip plates will be available after the run/walks for only $3.00 a plate. All proceeds will be donated to the Youth Track Club. Drinks are free, and water stations will be provided along the course.
