The City of Cape Girardeau Tree Board, the City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department and Save A Lot Food Store celebrated Arbor Day 2014 by planting trees along Sprigg Street near downtown Cape Girardeau. This planting is in partnership with Save-A-Lot in Cape Girardeau to assist the beautification of Cape Girardeau city streets. Arbor Day is a day recognized across the nation to give citizens and communities an opportunity to plant a tree for the environment and beautification. Arbor Day is also in conjunction with Tree City USA, of which Cape Girardeau has been a part for 14 years.
