To celebrate Historic Preservation Month, the Cape Girardeau Historic Preservation Commission will hold its free annual walking tour at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 9.
This year’s walk begins at the Southeast Missouri State University Catholic Campus Ministry parking lot, 512 North Pacific St. The tour focuses on the history of the university campus and will include discussion of several architectural styles ranging from modern to neoclassical. Also included will be a review of Kent Library’s 75th anniversary and touring the recent Academic Hall renovations.
The walking tour will be led by Dr. Steven Hoffman, Coordinator of Southeast Missouri State’s Historic Preservation program, and Dr. Bill Eddleman, Southeast Missouri State University Provost and member of the City’s Historic Preservation Commission.
