On April 26, 2014 the City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the 29th Annual Friends of The Parks Day and Great Cape Clean-up. This event will draw approximately 400 to 500 volunteers within the community to perform various duties within the city of Cape Girardeau and its parks.
These projects will include: planting flowers, replacing mulch on playgrounds, creek cleanup, trash pickup, and raking leaves as well as many other needed tasks. The parks that these tasks will be completed in are: Capaha Park, Indian Park, Kiwanis Park, May Green Garden Park, Washington Park, Dennis Scivally Park, Groves Park, Cape Rock Park, Cape La Croix Creek and the Jaycee Municipal Golf Course, Riverfront Park, city downtown area as well as other areas throughout the city.
Projects will begin at 9 a.m. with registration at Capaha Park at shelter #1. Schnucks will be providing hot dogs, chips and soda to provide lunch for the volunteers. To volunteer or for more information call 573-339-6340.
