It is with deepest sadness that the Cape Girardeau Police Department announced today the passing of Assistant Chief Roger Fields. Chief Fields died at a local hospital from a complex medical condition. He had served the department for 26 years starting his service in April of 1988.
Chief Fields was promoted to the position of Assistant Chief of Police on January 17th, 2009. Prior to being Assistant Chief he was Commander of the Operations Bureau which he held for three years. He held a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Southeast Missouri State University and graduated from the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command in 2001.
Chief Fields was loved and respected by family, friends, and fellow law enforcement officers. Funeral arrangements have not been made at this time.
Visitation will Tuesday, April 1 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Connection Pointe Church at 1506 S. Farmington Rd in Jackson, Mo. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2 also at Connection Pointe Church with interment to be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau immediately following.
