During the first session, golfers will meet at the Osage Centre’s lobby. The Monday night sessions will meet at a variety of locations around town, including the Shawnee Park Sports Complex and Osage Park.
The First Tee program is available through the City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department by a partnership with First Tee of Cape Girardeau.
The First Tee has taught 6.5 million children worldwide since 1997. The organization’s mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
The program teaches nine core values: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance courtesy and judgment. The First Tee says that the lessons of these core values help children be successful in high school, college and in life. The program also promotes a healthy lifestyle, and it is offered in all 50 states and in four different countries.
