Robber in Custody Before He Could Leave the Bank

On Monday, Dec. 16 at approximately 8:35 a.m., the Police Department responded to a robbery at First Missouri State Bank at Independence and Mt. Auburn.  Officers arrived and were able to take the suspect into custody without incident as soon as he exited the bank.  No one was injured during the robbery.  An arrest warrant was issued for David C. Dawson, 50 year of age from Cape Girardeau, for Class B felony of attempted robbery in the first degree.  He is being held on a $75,000 bond and will be transported to Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Department for holding.

Through the police departments investigation and taking Mr. Dawson in custody from the robbery, he was also later charged, with felony property damage for his alleged role in damaging an ATM. A bond has been set at $20,000 for the property damage charge in addition to the charge of robbery.
