Cape Girardeau Fire Dept. and Domino’s Pizza Team up to Promote Fire Prevention Week

The City of Cape Girardeau Fire Department and Cape Girardeau Domino’s Pizza are teaming up to promote fire prevention during Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 6-19).

From 5-8 p.m. on Oct. 17-19, anyone who places a delivery order from a Cape Girardeau Domino’s Pizza location may be randomly selected and surprised at the door when their pizza arrives aboard a fire engine. If the smoke alarms in the home are working, the pizza is free. If the smoke alarms are not working, the firefighters will replace the batteries or install a fully functioning alarm.

“Fire Prevention Week is a great time of year to change the batteries in your smoke alarms,” said Ivan LaGrand, Fire Inspector. “Functioning smoke alarms save lives, but many people forget to maintain the batteries. We are excited to be working with Domino’s Pizza to promote good fire safety precautions by rewarding residents who have working smoke alarms with a free pizza.”

According to the National Archives and Records Administration’s Library Information Center, Fire Prevention Week is the longest running public health and safety observance on record.
