Hosted by the City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with McDonald’s, the league is designed for players to play against each other in the same grade level, while working together to grow and progress. The goal of the league is to teach players the skills of the game, sportsmanship and teamwork.
Parks and Recreation began hosting the Fall Youth Soccer League in 2012. The league was formerly hosted by the Cape Area Youth Soccer Association (CAYSA). Both the fall and spring soccer leagues being considered as a “whole year,” according to coordinator Suzanne Carter. There were 620 children who registered for fall 2012 and 585 in spring 2013.
