Recent Arrests Made in Connection with Cape Girardeau Burglaries

Xavier Dee Canada, Steven R. Johnson and Marcus A. Canada are facing charges related to burglaries that occurred in Cape Girardeau.

The Cape Girardeau Police Department recently released surveillance photos regarding a burglary that occurred in the 2000 block of West Cape Rock Drive. Shortly thereafter, on May 17, Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office detectives investigated a burglary that occurred in Cape Girardeau County. Cape Girardeau Police Department investigators assisted in the investigation. The two departments’ cooperative efforts were beneficial, as officers were able to identify the persons in the surveillance photos.

Officers conducted searches at two residences in Cape Girardeau where stolen merchandise and two firearms were recovered.

Xavier Canada and Johnson were arrested. Xavier Canada is charged with felony burglary in the second degree with a $20,000 bond. Johnson is charged with felony unlawful possession of a firearm with a $25,000 bond.

Marcus A. Canada is charged with felony unlawful possession of a concealable firearm with a $15,000 bond.

An investigation is still ongoing.  More charges may be filed.
