National Trails Day is June 1

Join the City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, Missouri State Parks and the Missouri Department of Conservation for “A Walk in the Woods” celebrating National Trails Day on Saturday, June 1, starting at 10 a.m.

All ages are welcome to attend. There will be a number of activities including hiking, a stewardship project, and a children’s activity which will involve a special planting project.

Two hiking opportunities will be available. A paved surface, easier hike will begin from the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center. A more challenging hike will be hosted at Trail of Tears State Park.

Missouri was recently recognized as the “Best Trails State” at the National Trails Symposium in April.
