Work will close the bridge for approximately five weeks, weather permitting. Tasks will include removing the existing box culvert structure and replacing it with a new single span bridge structure.
The contract amount is $508,000, and funding was made available by the 2008 Parks and Recreation Stormwater Tax.
Once the Howell Street bridge is complete, possibly in early July, work will begin on the Cape Rock Drive bridge near Dennis Scivally Park.
Detour signs will be set up to guide motorists around the work area, and motorists are asked to use caution and consider using alternate routes.
