Popular 5K Training Course Offered May-July in Cape Girardeau

Legs of a young man runningThe popular 8-week 5K training class is once again being offered by the City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, beginning May 20 and ending July 10. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome.

Classes consist of cardio training, stretching, strengthening, speed workouts and tempo runs including fartleks, hills, interval training, striders and more.

The group will meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Monday sessions meet at Arena Park Shelter 1 and Wednesday sessions meet at the Central Junior High School Track.

Class fees are $42, which includes a discounted entry into the Capaha Classic 5K on July 13. Class entry for those not participating in the Capaha Classic race is $32.

This class has a 25 participant maximum, so register soon! Registration forms are available online at cityofcape.org/fitness and at the A. C. Brase Arena. Please register by May 15.
