Volunteer to clean up Cape Girardeau during the 28th Annual Friends of the Parks Day and the Great Cape Cleanup on April 27 hosted by the City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department.
The Parks and Recreation Department hopes that over 100 groups and 1,000 volunteers participate in beautification projects throughout the community. Projects will include planting tress and flowers, replacing mulch, trash pick-up and raking leaves.
In addition, free paper shredding will be available for Cape Girardeau citizens at Capaha Park from 9 a.m. to noon.
Volunteer individuals and groups can choose to clean up and beautify a location of their own choosing or can come out to work at a City/Parks location. City locations may include are Capaha Park, Cape La Croix Creek, Cape Rock Park, Dennis Scivally Park, Downtown Cape, Groves Park, Indian Park, Jaycee Municipal Golf Course, Kiwanis Park, May Greene Garden, Riverfront Park and Washington Park.
Groups or individuals wanting to volunteer should register by April 24 by calling the Parks and Recreation Department Office at 573-339-6340.
