The City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting an eight-week 5K training course for all age levels and abilities from April 1 to May 22. The class will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays at the Cape Central Junior High track and on Wednesdays at Arena Park shelter one.
The course gives participants the opportunity to get in shape, gain cardiovascular endurance, and improve running form. The class can also provide individuals to train for upcoming races or reach their own personal goals. Classes will consist of cardio training information, stretching, strengthening, speed workouts, and tempo runs.
The class is open to 25 participants, so register early. Registration costs $32 a person and ends on March 27. Entry forms may be picked up at the A.C. Brase Arena, Shawnee Park Center, or Osage Centre. Entry forms may also be downloaded at cityofcape.org/fitness.
