Cape Girardeau Police Stop 148 Cars During March 21 Checkpoint


The City of Cape Girardeau Police Department set up a checkpoint on Mount Auburn Road near Cape Central High School on Thursday, March 21. A total of 148 cars were stopped at the checkpoint, which was done as part of a statewide youth seat belt enforcement campaign. In addition to checking for seat belt usage, the police also asked each driver to show proof of license and insurance.

At the checkpoint, the Police Department issued 19 seat belt summonses. There were five drivers without operator licenses, three uninsured vehicles, one expired license plate, and two other non hazardous violations. One warrant arrest was also made.
