Respect yourself and others, humility, self-discipline, honesty, self-defense, falling and throwing techniques, kicking, punching, improved health and fitness.
Children, ages 9 to 15, can begin learning all the qualities above by enrolling in Pre-Hapkido, sponsored by the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department and Lee H. Park Martial Arts. Pre-Hapkido provides youth with the basic skills and foundation needed to continue martial arts training, and it serves as an introductory course to Hapkido.
Register by Jan. 18. Classes take place from Jan. 22 through Feb. 28 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6 p.m., at Lee H. Park Martial Arts, 1545-R Independence.
