Eight additional crosswalks will be replaced with red, colored stamped concrete in downtown Cape Girardeau. Crosswalks at the intersections of Spanish and Independence streets, and Main and Independence, have been added to the other nine crosswalks now being constructed. Fronabarger Concreters hopes today to start working on the Main and Independence intersection. The project should last about six weeks, weather permitting.
Intersections will remain open to at least one traffic lane. Signs will direct traffic around the construction area, and motorists are asked to use caution.
Downtown businesses are open for visitors during the construction. Parking is available both on-street and in existing lots next to Broadway, Spanish, Water and Main streets. Signs will be placed around construction noting that businesses are open and parking is available.
