Cape Library Offers Ebooks, Programs and More for All Ages

Download automobile repair instructions, learn a foreign language in your pajamas, build a family tree or get career help. There really is something for everyone at the Cape Girardeau Public library both online or in-person at 711 N. Clark.

The mission of the Cape Girardeau Public Library is to be the community’s first choice for information gathering experiences through social interaction, programming, technology and the written word for all ages.The library opened in May 2009 with an all new design and expanded services following voter approval. The Library will be closed Dec. 23, 24 and 25 for the holiday. Food collection for fines has been moved to April.

Monday Night Book Club
Monday, Dec. 17 from 7 to 8 p.m.
The Monday Night Book Club will meet a week earlier due to the closing of the library on the fourth Monday of December. The title will be announced soon. Watch the website or visit the library for updates. Discussions generally occur the fourth Monday of each month. They are free and open to the public. Participants are responsible for obtaining books. Books may be requested through the library’s interlibrary service.

English as a Second Language Conversation Group
Tuesdays from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
For those who desire to speak the English language with more fluency may join this informal conversation club which will meet every Tuesdays at 1 p.m. in the Schade Study Room in the Adult Services area. Free and open to the public. No registration required.

Great Books Series
Wednesday, Dec. 19 from 2  to 4 p.m.
Last meeting of the series. Watch for information on titles in the library, online and media outlets. These programs are sponsored by the library and the Center for Regional History

Let’s go LEGO! (grades 1-3)
Thursday, Dec. 20 from 4 to 5 p.m.
Come and build. Come and play! All creations will be posted on our blog. Registration required.

Model Trains for All Ages
Wednesday, Dec. 26 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 27 from  2 to 4 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 29 from 9 to 11 a.m.
