Art installation by a private contractor next to the Southeast Missourian’s building on Broadway could result in very slight traffic inconveniences in downtown Cape Girardeau this week, starting on Monday, Feb. 8. Most of the work should be completed by Wednesday, Feb. 10, weather permitting.
The Quill sculpture was purchased by the Southeast Missourian after the first Cape Girardeau Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition in 2014, to help permanently keep public art alive in our historic downtown for years to come.
The piece will be installed in front of the newspaper’s building, and work will mainly encompass parking lanes. Road work ahead type signs will be set up near the crew, and drivers are asked to use caution near this work zone. Equipment may intermittently enter the roadway during installation.
